Plastic Iceberg

My piece was designed to bring attention to the effects of climate change on polar bears and how they are connected to our society. The message of this piece is that if we don't take urgent action against climate change, deforestation as well as air pollution will affect an increase in temperature, ultimately threatening the habitats of polar bears. The first half represents the loss of an iceberg due to intense, hot weather, and the iceberg is instead replaced by a plastic bottle in the sea. This part delivers a message that climate change has been devastating an ecosystem and that ecosystems inevitably live with trash and plastics that have been ditched in the sea. The second half represents the shadow of the prior one, meaning that people as represented with dark papers are avoiding the fact they are directly causing climate change. My message is that we need to acknowledge what is happening and face it to solve the climate crisis. We are living in a society in which deforestation and air pollution are devastating to nature. Although the first and second parts of this piece look separated, they are connected. This is why becoming more aware of environmental destruction is significant.
