The Photos For the Future Generation
What might happen if the temperature of Earth rises by 1℃? Even though 1 degree celsius doesn't seem to bring much effect to Earth, it brings tremendous and unimaginable effects to Earth. This artwork is describing consequences that the rise of temperature can raise in several photos. First of all, snowmelt is one of the consequences of rising. At 1℃ rising temperatures, snowpack could disappear 30 days earlier in various regions. Also, as snow melts, it becomes water and it causes sea level rise. If sea level rises, lots of regions will be in danger since their lands will be sinked in water. For example, Tuvalu is in danger of sinking into the water in the next 50 years if sea level continues to rise. Second, drought is another major consequence of rising. Especially, in the African continent, lots of children are suffering from famine from drought. Drought causes extremely low crop harvest production which leads to continuous famine. Globally, lots of African children are suffering from lack of food source. As ecosystem balance is destroyed by changing external environments, specific animal kinds are endangered and some of them are already extinct. As a result, the biodiversity is reducing.
