In the Same Globe, but in Different Circumstances

Among current environmental issues and problems, water scarcity is one of the serious problems that lots of people have to handle to make better water environments for future generations as a global community. According to ‘The World Counts’, the daily use of freshwater per person is about 1000 gallons globally. As the immense amount of water increases globally, lots of countries which are suffering from the water shortage are also increasing and a wide range of environmental problems are occuring in the globe.

This drawing indicates the genuine reality that people are experiencing directly. Although we are on the same earth, each community is in a different water environment. In this picture, Africans are suffering from the water shortage and the polluted water that can’t provide vital materials for them. According to ‘GLOBAL CITIZEN’, 400 million people in sub-Saharan Africa are not even able to satisfy the basic drinking water requirements. Even though they walk a long distance to get water, the quality of water is not safe to drink. In polluted water, there are small particles, dust, and microplastics which are harmful for our bodies. In this picture, we can realize people are in different water environments even though they are in the same globe.

However, people who are in a better water environment also have to be prepared for the coming water shortage. Although they can get fresh water by purifying process, they also can suffer from water scarcity in the future. By practicing water saving methods, they can prevent and reduce the water consumption which contributes to Africans that are suffering from the severe water scarcity. Therefore, every citizen in the globe has to work as a global community including nations, nonprofit organizations etc.
